GENERAL

Sendak is an extremely sadistic, ruthless, and powerful fighter who is not to be underestimated. His loyalty to Zarkon and adherence to the military hierarchy is without question. He is a model soldier and citizen of the Galra Empire. He is also skilled in psychological warfare and military strategy, particularly by exploiting the weakness of people valuing others' lives.Sendak is calculating, quick to pick up on deceit, and not above taunting his enemies during battle nor emotional and mental manipulation on top of brutal physical torture. His cruelness shows in his views that valuing the lives of others is a weakness to exploit, and his readiness to electrocute prisoners where they can be seen and heard to make their allies bend to his will.

HISTORY

BEGINNING

During the 3177th cycle of the Era of Discipline, it is under the shadow of Daibazaal's third moon that Sendak is born. Within the deep arctic caverns of the far north, in the labyrinth-cave-city of Oozorne, a young Kuza-Zima Galran draws the first breath of a life that would last ten thousand years.

Set during the time before Voltron's return, during the tail-end of the 10k year gap in its absence. Sendak is the prolific First in Command of the Empire, second to none other than Zarkon himself.

Set during the time of Season 5 to Season 7 of the show. Sendak returns to the Empire, somewhat worse for wear, to lead his bloody purification campaign for victory.

Well over ten thousand years ago, Sendak had proven himself a valuable asset to both Daibazaal and Altea. Being the close ally and friend of Emperor Zarkon, and in a move to bolster Galran-Altean relations, Sendak was nominated as a body-guard for Princess Allura. When quintessence corrupts Zarkon and Honerva, Sendak sides with the Alteans and is put into stasis alongside the princess.

During the Altean-Galran war, a shard of the trans-reality comet that destroyed Daibazaal opens another tear in reality. Just before it's closed, Sendak — still in his early stages of quintessence corruption — is shoved through it.

THE VARIETY OF THE

GALRA EMPIRE

It is common knowledge by now that the term of 'Galra' or 'Galran' is now considered an umbrella term for an absolutely massive amount of sub-races, with which other Galrans often refer to as different 'stocks' of Galra. Nevertheless, there are physical/visual traits that many regard as very Galran traits, though their appearances vary wildly.

DISTINCTIVE TRAITS:

  • Purple coloring. The specific shade of which may vary. All Galrans are some kind of purple, with the exception being half-Galra.

  • Yellow eyes. Moon yellow so pale it appears white, yellow so saturated it appears orange — like their body coloration, the hue and brightness will change, but all Galra have yellow eyes. Sometimes they have pupils — usually slit — and sometimes not.

  • Head ridge. Not every Galra possesses a head ridge, but many if not most of them do.

  • Their size. Most Galra are quite large in comparison to other sapient life. Galra on the short end of the spectrum are plentiful, but not nearly as much as Galra that average 6'5" to 8'5" feet tall.

  • Long limbs. Galra tend to have abnormally long limbs.

  • Sharp teeth and claws. Also a trait not of every Galra but of most of them. Another Galran is sure to look at another with pity if they do not have a natural weapon like them.

THE GALRA OF

DAIBAZAAL

The modern-day Galra is not the same sub-type of the species today as it was ten thousand years ago. Through thousands of years of interbreeding with alien life, the only remaining Galra that resemble the ancient Daibazaalan Galra are few and far in between.All modern-day Galra are descendants of these stocks of Daibazaalans.

UUSKUVA DAIBAZAALAN GALRA

THE EQUATOR-BASED SUBSPECIES OF DAIBAZAAL

The Uuskuva Daibazaalans were native to the equatorial ring of Daibazaal, and were rarely found elsewhere on world. This stock of Galra is the most rare by far, and was considered so even ten thousand years ago. The Uusukva had a long, long history of monarchical sovereigns, and achieved unification of the entire planet of Daibazaal thousands of years prior to Zarkon taking the throne.

DISTINCTIVE TRAITS:

  • Thick plating that covers the head and back areas. This plating is a more evolved, advanced version of the common head ridge on most Galra.

  • Other areas, plating varies between the Uuskuva in question. Some have plating along their noses, some have spikes on their jawlines or chins.

  • Elf-like ears. The lower protrusion depends on the Galra.

  • Multiple rows of shark-like teeth.

  • Small overbite-esque mandibles.

KUZA-ZIMA DAIBAZAALAN GALRA

THE POLAR-VARIANT SUBSPECIES OF DAIBAZAAL

The Kuma-Zima Daibazaalan evolved to cope with the intense cold weather of the home-world, most often found around the polar regions of the planet.

DISTINCTIVE TRAITS:

  • Fur covering from head to toe.

  • The only part of this stock of Galra that is not furred is their bony head ridge, which extends down between their shoulder blades and down their spine.

  • Large bat-like ears.

  • A mix of blunt teeth and sharp fangs.
